Flowering Snowball Quilt Class

Flowering Snowball   (60” x 72”)
Saturday, April 28, 2018    10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
$25,  Fabric and supplies extra

This striking quilt is made with just two shapes, which we’ll cut with an AccuQuilt die.   Don’t be intimidated—the curves are quite gentle!

You will need to cut rectangles ahead of time, and visit the shop prior to the class for a 30 minute session to cut the shapes with the die cutter. Contact the shop to sign up.

Note:  This is not a beginning quilt, but you need not have specific experience with curves.

Fabric Requirements:

  • Color 1 (orange):  1-1/2 yards

  • Color 2 (yellow):   1-1/2 yards

  • Background (white):  1-7/8 yards

  • Border:  1-3/4 yards   (The strips for border will be cut lengthwise from this piece, so you won’t have to piece)

  • Binding:  An additional ¼ yard of Border fabric, cut separately  (You will have enough left of the border fabric to do MOST of the binding; the ¼ yard piece will provide enough extra to finish the binding.)

Cutting before the die-cutting session:

Please note:  you should cut the strips and rectangles as directed, as the rectangles need to go through the die cutter along the length of grain.

  • Color 1:
    (4) 13-1/2” x WOF; subcut each into (5) 7-1/4” x 13-1/2” rectangles, for a total of 20 rectangles

  • Color 2:
    (4) 13-1/2” x WOF; subcut each into (5) 7-1/4” x 13-1/2” rectangles, for a total of 20 rectangles

  • Background:
    (10) 6-1/2” x WOF; subcut each into (4) 9-1/4” x 6-1/2” rectangles, for a total of 40 rectangles

Other materials and supplies:

  • Thread to match or blend with your fabrics

  • Sewing machine in good working order, with foot or other method to sew accurate ¼”

  • Pins:  I suggest a fine, sharp pin such as Clover’s superfine pins

  • Standard sewing notions:  spare machine needles, etc.

Lunch:  We will order out for lunch  ( from Pizza Counter, Pizza Hut, or Jimmy John’s, according to participants’ wishes) but you may bring your own lunch, if you like.  The shop has a refrigerator, microwave, and toaster oven.
