Good News...You can Shop On-Line

With a lot of help from our friend the Warped Spinster, our on-line shop is up and running. We are starting small and working our way up to a wider selection.  Our initial focus is local pattern designers and kits exclusive to Cut Up & Quilt! We're already getting orders from around the U.S. So, if you see it and you like it, you better get it.

A Brief History of National Quilting Day (reference: http://www.nqaquilts.org/nqd/)

In 1989, the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society organized a "Quilters' Day Out" on the third Saturday of March to celebrate the rich tradition of quilt making in Kentucky. In 1991, the NQA officers were so enthused with the concept and success of "Quilters'Day Out" that they voted to take it to a national level.

The first National Quilting Day was observed in 1992 and since then it has grown into a global celebration for all quiltmakers and quilt lovers. Helen Storbeck, one of the founders of National Quilting Day, wrote in The Quilting Quarterly, "Groups of quilters were encouraged to hold special events, publishers and shop owners were invited to sponsor promotions especially for quilters and it quickly became a grassroots endeavor with quilters in every part of the country participating.  In the first year of National Quilting Day, quilters in other countries asked to participate. They were welcomed with open arms. As our feelings of a community network has evolved to include a world community, it is only appropriate that quilters and quilt lovers everywhere united to give recognition to the special art form."

Are you thinking about summer yet?
Vintage Picnic by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics.

What's more wonderful than a picnic on a warm sunny day? This fresh collection of reproduction prints in cheery red, aqua, pink, and green with just a hint of navy is filled with large florals, checks, dots and the sweetest little flowers. So pull out the picnic basket and a sewing machine. It's going to be a beautiful day.  We've got precuts and a nice assortment of this collection waiting for you!

And don't you love butterflies?  The designs in Aria by Kate Spain for Moda were inspired by the melodic and graceful motion of butterflies and the colorful splendor of the meadow garden. From begonia pinks and roses to mossy greens and cool, watery blues, there is a patchwork garden ready to be arranged by you!

The Fly Away Aria Quilt shop model was made by Kathy. It's finished off by a touch of Ombre by V & Company.

Becky has a thing for feathers and arrows lately.  She found Arrow Flight by Michael Miller to inspire her.  We think she'll share!

Look what Jade made out of the "Talk to Me" Collection by Ink and Arrow for Quilting Treasures.  She picked a new longarm quilt pattern to make this one a stand out!. Can you see it?  It's an old fashioned rotary telephone.
