What's New @ Cut Up & Quilt!

Time Flies @ Cut Up & Quilt!

June flew by so fast, and we're already in the midst of July.  June tends to be one of our busiest months with the All Iowa Shop Hop, the beginning of the Row by Row and the Omaha Quilt Show.

The All Iowa Shop Hop is always a blast.  We love seeing the returning "hoppers" as well as all the new folks we get to meet.  We hope you all found some inspiration as you travelled through the state.  Prizes will be awarded in September, so you'll want to follow what's happening on the All Iowa Shop Hop Facebook page or the All Iowa Shop Hop website.

Jane loves to support her local quilt shop and she was our first AISH shop hopper!  She was joined by several others.  Unfortunately, we got busy and didn't always remember to take photos.  Here are a couple photos we did remember take!

Nancy and her daughter from Cedar Rapids visit us every year.  This year they brought along a newbie.

Durelle hopped with her friend Flat Stella. They took photos of their favorite things.

We got to meet the Orange Sisters for the first time this year.  They are laughing from the minute they walk in and they certainly leave you smiling.

Kudos to Leland and Kevin, two of the coordinators of the AISH. AISH is a big task and they took it on like a well oiled machine! They surprised us with a visit. Even though they are shop owners, they buy something from every shop!
Row by Row started June 21st. Jane and Greg from the Detroit area were our first Rowers.  We felt honored as they made sure our shop was their first as they travelled home from the Annual Project Linus Conference in Indiana.

Amongst our first day Rowers, we had visitors from Hawaii.  So far, they've travelled the greatest distance.  Darn, we missed that photo op!

Don't forget, the Row by Row continues through September 6th, so it's never too late to start. Although we've seen some finished quilts in the state, we have not had any turned in yet. The opportunity to be the winner at Cut Up & Quilt is still open to you.  The first to turn in their finished quilt, bound and labeled will win 25 Fat Quarters.  That's more than six yards of fabric.  Plus, if our row is included you'll be rewarded with an additional gift.

If you want to know more about the Row by Row, check out their website for a complete explanation, shops participating, examples of completed quilts and requirements. Be sure to "Like" the Iowa Row by Row Experience page to follow what's happening at the Iowa shops.

We spotted our row in Carol French's finished quilt. She was the first to turn in her quilt at her local shop, the Wise Monkey.

Nancy got a peek at our row while on the AISH. We couldn't sell it yet, so she drove back from Des Moines to pick up our row. She had already put together several rows and saved a spot just for ours. She was the first to turn in her finished quilt at the Adel Quilting and Dry Goods Co.

As if that wasn't enough activity for June, we also participated in the 38th Annual Omaha Quilt Show. We saw a great representation of our shoppers with the sight of our purple T-shirts everywhere.  And if you were lucky enough to be in the first 500 visitors, you got "fanned"!  It was a hot weekend, so we heard  our fans were spotted at the College World Series and Shakespeare on the Green.
