What's New @ Cut Up & Quilt!

Think Spring!

Are you ready to say goodbye to February? It seems we are in the depth of winter.  We'll just keep thinking bright happy thoughts until spring finally arrives.  We can tell people are home quilting as our list of for long arm quilting is growing.  Never fear, we're still turning quilts around in about 3 weeks.  This is the time to be making those graduation quilts.  If you are want some advice on how to make a T-Shirt Quilt, check out our list of classes below.  Jean is teaching a T-Shirt Quilt Class in early March.  We have several classes on our calendar, so be sure and check them out.

February is a planning month for us with upcoming events needing our attention.  We are participating in the Stonehenge 10th Anniversary Block Party.   Someone is going to win a trip to England with a private tour to see Stonehenge.  We've got our shop block in the works and it will make its debut soon.  We have also started our Row by Row contest.  Read more about these events below.

Stonehenge 10th Anniversary

2019 marks the 10th anniversary of the Stonehenge fabric brand by Northcott, and they are celebrating with the quilters that have made their fabrics such a success! They have designed the Solstice Anniversary Collection just for the occasion.

Cut Up & Quilt is a participating shop in the International Block Party and we're hosting the Solstice Panel Quilt Challenge.  We love to see what you can create and there are great prizes in store for the winners.

Stonehenge International Block Party is ready to kick-off on March 15th. The grand prize is a 9-day trip for two to England with a private tour of Stonehenge in June 0f 2020.  All you need to do is create a quilt  using a minimum of 12 unique blocks from participating shops using the Solstice Anniversary Collection. The event will run from March 15th to September 30th, 2019. All the details, rules and guidelines can be found on the Northcott website.

To add to the fun and provide more opportunities to win prizes, as a participating Block Party shop we will be hosting a Solstice Panel Quilt Challenge!

Quilters are challenged to use the Solstice panel in a creative way to make a quilt no larger than 60”x 60”. This is an in-store challenge.  You must physically submit your panel quilt to Cut Up & Quilt by November 30th 2019. We will judge entries and pick a winner, who will receive a Stonehenge Precut prize!

Row by Row Design Contest

It's time to be start planning for the 2019 Row by Row Experience.

We're giving you a chance to be a part of the experience by offering a $100 gift card from Cut Up & Quilt to design a row that represents our bright and happy shop while incorporating this year's Row by Row Theme "Taste the Experience".

All entries must be submitted by March 20th.  The winner will be selected by vote at the March 21st CUAQ Therapy sessions. The winner must be willing to write a pattern to accompany their submission. All entrants will receive a $25 gift card for submitting a valid design.

Please go to the Row by Row Experience web page for all the details regarding size options and requirements.

 Upcoming Classes

Check out the classes/calendar page for a current list of classes and events. It's always changing with new additions that sometimes don't make it to the newsletter. Just click on the class you want and register on-line or in the shop.  If it's full, be sure to add your name to the waiting list.  It helps our instructors determine if another class will be added.

Please give us the courtesy to let us know if you need to cancel.  It gives us a chance to contact someone who would love your spot.  We will refund your class registration if we have at least a 24 hour notice.

It's the season for the ever so popular T-Shirt Quilt.  If you are getting ready to make a T-Shirt quilt and don't know where to start, Jean is offering a class on March 2nd.  It's not to late to sign up!

If you are looking for a Thursday evening class, Jean has added a 4-part Rings that Bind Class. It starts in March and you'll have it ready for quilting by early May.

Attic Mirror is a pattern designed by our local Warped Spinster, aka, Karen Burns.  It's one of her favorites, so she thought she's share it with you.  It is layer cake friendly and a fun quilt to put together.

Michael's Two Fabric Bargello class was a huge hit and it filled quickly, so he's offering it again in April. Take the class and you'll soon have a bargello of your own.

Karen's model of the Double Struck Star is a stunning modern quilt. Karen has been planning classes that make use of a ruler you might have in your collection. This quilt uses the Creative Grids 60 degree Diamond Ruler she demonstrated at our Anniversary celebration in September.  You just might have that ruler in your repertoire.  If not, we do have them for sale in the shop.
